Welcome to my pages for the Chill Roleplaying system.

These pages contain my small additions to the mayfair system in the form of characters, scenarios, creatures etc...

Make sure you check out the resources section. There is a first draft of MI5-Department 6 (A parallel, UK government owned, organsation to S.A.V.E), along with some of their technology used by their field operatives.

About Chill and Roleplaying...

We'll start with roleplaying first...

Roleplaying is 'Acting without a script' or a method of 'Interactive Storytelling'.

Roleplaying covers ALL genres found in the media today. You name it, there's probably a role-playing game for it. When you walk into a shop that does roleplaying stuff, you will usually find a few major genres available. Mythical (e.g. Dungeons and Dragons, etc...), Science-Fiction (Star Trek etc..) and Horror (Call of Cthulhu, etc...) I'm sure that if someone searches desperately enough, they'll find a My Little Pony RPG. Roleplaying is a completely natural escape mechanism for the human psyche. Children do it all the time when playing in the school-yard. They take on a personality from a cartoon series (e.g. scooby doo) and have a mini adventure with basic rules.

Roleplaying games (RPG's) are designed to give adults the opportunity to play a character that is nothing like themselves in an environment where they won't feel silly (A big thing for a grown-up!) RPG's provide a set of rules which govern the 'universe' within which the game is set. They also provide a general background story that makes it easier to fit characters to, and scenario's that the gamers can play.
All games, no matter what, have some form of leader. They are the head 'StoryTeller' and referred to as the GM (Game Master) The GM sets the scene, gives the players the clues they need and 'guides' the story to its conclusion. The GM poses problems and sometimes hands out solutions. They also play the 'Non-Player Characters' or NPC's. These are the people the gamers will meet in a particular scenario. People like the young lady on a shop counter, the old man walking down the road and the evil genius planning to take over the world from his volcano-top laboratory. These are all played by the GM.
In order to make sure the stories aren't linear in nature (And believe me there's no such thing as a linear roleplaying story) the players use dice to manage their use of skills. e.g. I want to jump from one roof to another. In real life I take a chance, run at it as hard as I can and hope I get it right. In the game, in order to simulate this, I might use a running skill to get up some speed and then a jumping skill to try and get it right. I'd roll on a dice to make sure I run across the roof properly without tripping on anything, and then roll again on my jumping skill to try and get to the other side. If I fail a roll during the leap, then I haven't made it and my character plummets to its doom. I succeed, I get across! Simple.

Chill is a 'generic' roleplaying game. It has all the requirements of a normal game but with the addition of being able to use the 'rules of the universe' outside the story set up in the book. Chill is a horror game. It's rules are designed to allow the players to do anything in a horror based scenario from hunting a Vampire, through being hunted by a Werewolf and right out the other side into psychological horror or being chased by large space aliens who want nothing more than to steal a few cows from your ranch and do something nasty with a big silver thing. Chill has a lot, and covers the entire horror genre. So far it's been through two iterations. Version 1 was created by the guys at Pacesetter. Version 2 (The one I have) was updated from the Pacesetter books by Mayfair Games. Chill is currently going through its third iteration by OtherWorld Creations, and everyone is very keen to see how it all pans out.
